Paws for Celebration: Our Clinic is Under New Management!

As of June 2023, Pescadero Veterinary Services Inc, (PVS) is under new management! We are proud to share that PVS is now under the care of Dr. Michelle Croom-Preston! Dr. Croom-Preston has been working closely by the side of Dr. Amezcua for many years. You may have seen and got to know her when she was just starting out as a kennel assistant in 2007. We are happy to see that she’s grown under the guidance of Dr. Amezcua and has had the torch passed on to her.

She graduated in 2015 from Royal Veterinary College University of London and worked two years on the Isle of Man to help develop her farm animal skills. She moved back to our little town in 2017 and hasn’t looked back.

Dr. Croom-Preston is a USDA certified vet, one of the few that are licensed on the coast and can do farm calls. She is eager to continue providing the same “pawsome” quality care to all furry friends.

Freya!

Everyone meet Freya - she is the latest foster kitten to come by the clinic. She was found with her siblings but no mom present. The lovely folks who found her brought her in as she ‘just wasn’t doing quite right’ at about 5 weeks old. They did all they could but unfortunately she needs to have surgery. She is too little at the moment for her procedure, so she is being fostered by Dr Michelle and Mille. She gets to spend her day at the clinic having fun and showing off all her sass. She has no fear and gets on with all the clinic dogs. In a few months, she will get her procedure, and who knows, Miss Freya may very well become the newest member of the PVS team by becoming our resident clinic cat!

We will keep you updated on how she does, but she is certainly one little tough cookie!

Neigh News: Meet Our New Pony!

Amongst all the good news, we are pleased to announce the addition of our newest pony, Didi! As you can see, Didi has a unique heterochromia with one eye being brown & the other being blue. She is a bit more on the shyer side but we are working diligently on socializing her every day. If you see her outside while you’re waiting for your appointment, feel free to give her the provided horse treats!

Halloween 2023 fun! We have Tater Steve the Viking, Tommy the banana, and Black Widow Jethro!

Meet Nebraska and her little sausages!

Here at the clinic, we’ve been following the journey of Miss Nebraska through motherhood. We first met her pups during a pregnancy check ultrasounds, and now these delightful little pups will soon be off to their forever homes! Nebraska has been a good mom, along with the help from her loving owners. All puppies are happy, healthy and doing great!

Chamarita Parade 2022!

Chamarita was back in action this year! So that meant that Dr Linda, Chris and Nancy held their Chamarita party. This is just a good old get together and a great reason to celebrate. The mini horses, Dude and Tessla, were kitted out and joined in with the parade, strutting there stuff along North Street, along with lots of the locals and resident dogs (many in matching harnesses!). It was a fabulous day had by all and we are all looking forward to next year already!

If you have any photos of the parade including our animals and you would like to share them, just send them to pvs.vet@comcast.net

A big thanks to Susan Friedman for taking these shots and sending them over to us!

Angus

It’s been a busy few months! Our biggest update is that we have upgraded our computer software to a much better system, which has been keeping us very busy. And we have been as busy as always. We strive to provide the best for your 4 legged family members, and we will continue to do so!

Here is Mr Angus, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog. Many clients will recognize him from his (noisy) greetings as they walk down the driveway towards the clinic. He belongs to Dr Amezcua and he is an absolute love bug!

Christmas fun!

Here is a few of the staff enjoying the Christmas party with friends and clients. We had a lovely evening with lots of good food – the theme was Victorian – and there was plenty of drinks to be had.

Thank you to our neighbors at Harley Farms for hosting us!

Meet Will

This handsome boy is Will and he is only just 6 months old! He still has a lot of growing to do, but he is a beautiful dog full of character and personality. We love when Will comes to visit us at the clinic with his family, and he certainly enjoys all of the attention from anyone available, whether it’s to give him a cookie or a head scratch!

Goat Heaven

Here is Dr Michelle in her happy place - surrounded by goats! We love when we have the opportunity to visit our goat friends. They are always curious as to what we may have in our pockets and ready for a head scratch!

He’s spikey!

When you are next visiting in our clinic, you’ll have to meet our new spikey resident in the reception area! He was made by one of our very talented clients and we are totally impressed with her work! This little guy is awesome!

July 4th

We hope all of our friends, neighbors, clients and patients had a fun and safe time celebrating July 4th! We certainly did! Quinn, Candy and Angus were dressed to impress, joining Chris, Mille, Dr Michelle and Dr Linda!

Look at that smile!

This is Jane, one of the local farm dogs. She is an Anatolian Shepherd with the sweetest smile. We enjoyed her visit to the clinic!

Ultrasound Training

Here, Dr Michelle is getting some practice with our new ultrasound after having a training session with a doctor who specializes in ultrasonography. We had 3 very good and patient pets to help - Candy, Crane (pictured) and Angus. Training is going well and we are getting a lot of use with our ultrasound. We have had some practice with the ultrasound both in the clinic and on the farm.

Once again, a great big thank you to all who donated to our fundraiser - without your generous donations, we would not have this great piece of equipment in our clinic and available to use on our patients!
